Energy Analysis_EP Construction

Hello guys,

A very simple question about EP Construction Materials that I would like to figure it out. If you run an energy analysis without plug any kind of materials to Honeybee Surfaces (walls and windows), which kind of default materials will be utilized by Energy Plus? Is it possible to know their characteristics?

Hi Angelo!
I think you could test it by creating a building with default values and opening the result file in open studio - alternatively - use boolean toggle to automatically open OS.
I would be interested in knowing the default values too!

The HB_LabelZoneSurfaces is giving you such kind of information.

I tried with HB_LabelZoneSurfaces but the label only describes the material as “MATERIAL 1”. Nevertheless, I opened Open Studio to check the standard values.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did it.

External Window: glass 3 mm + air 13 mm + glass 3 mm
External Wall: 100 mm brick + 200 mm concrete + 50 mm insulation + air gap + 19 mm gypsum board.

Makes sense.

I believe the construction name is Exterior Wall. Then if you know the name, you can decompose the construction into its materials.
