groundMaterial used in the "Outdoor Microclimate Map" demo file on Hydra

The “Outdoor Microclimate Map” demo file on Hydra used a customized GroundMaterial construction for the underground thermal zone acting as the ground surface that may accumulate heat.

http://hydrashare.github.io/hydra/viewer?owner=chriswmackey&for…

It seems that this construction should be disconnected with the Set EP Zone Construction component (see image below). Otherwise, there will be severe error related to the underground zone surface construction:

1. The simulation has not run correctly because of this severe error:
** ** Severe ** BuildingSurface:Detailed=“GROUNDZONE_SRF_2”, invalid Construction Name=“GROUNDMATERIAL”.**

Can kind Chris help to verify if it is the case?

Can kind Chris also help to share a bit more on why outdoor thermal comfort is calculated in this way?

Thank you very much!

OK, i was wrong …

The demo GH file is fine. It’s just that the EP construction “GroundMaterial” needs to be reconnected to the input nodes on the Set EP Zone Construction component to make it work.

Nevertheless, it is still strange why the reconnection is needed…

And I also want to ask why this 5-layer concrete construction needs to be connected to both the Set EP Zone construction and Set Underground construction components…

Pls kindly advise! Thanks!

Dear bee and bugs, your advice is greatly appreciated!

Grasshope,

Again, I am very sorry for the late reply. Hopefully, all of this has been addressed with the new Ground Zone component.

I explained why you needed to set the construction on both of the Set EP Construction components here:

As for the reason why re-connection is needed, that is strange indeed! My guess it that this resulted from a very old bug in the previous release. This seems to be fixed now, as evidenced by my attached failure to replicate the issue.
