KPF-New York: Environmental Performance Designer/Analyst

Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates is seeking an Environmental Performance Designer/Analyst to join our Environmental Performance (EP) team at our New York City Headquarters and bring his or her analysis and modeling expertise to the design of complex architectural and urban design projects. With more than 50% of KPF’s ongoing work located in urban regions of the world facing some of the largest challenges due to urbanization and climate change, we embrace the opportunity to have a long lasting environmental impact in the built environment. Our practice focuses on mixed-use and dense projects, which shape the urban public space, systems and microclimate around them, and which bring an exciting set of challenges for design that the EP team helps overcome.

The person taking the position will be working directly with KPF’s Environmental Design Director, not only informing project teams through personal expertise and computer simulations, but also supporting research, tool development and educational initiatives.

She or he will work closely with designers, both at the building and urban scale, beginning with early conceptual design studies and carrying on through the design process by introducing new solutions and collaborating with sustainability and engineering consultants, as well our local Urban Interface group (ui.kpf.com). In addition, she or he will be responsible for developing analysis workflows and tools leveraging current simulation tools in the Rhino/GH environment (DIVA, Ladybug, etc.), and for training designers in their application in order to grow KPF’s network of performance specialists.
