My PhD dissertation was largely derivative of the work that I did with and for Honeybee. If you are just starting out, in addition to the links recommended by Mostapha, I would also suggest familiarizing yourself with basics of Python and referring the primers for Ladybug and Honeybee on a need-to basis.
