Wea and Stat file

Hi,
For many of the files i’m trying the TauClearSky complains about:

  1. Solution exception:Stat file contains no optical data.

There is something to do about it?
Tx,

Hey @AbrahamYezioro ,

If you don’t have optical data, there’s no way to use the TauClearSky model. If you have the optical data elsewhere and it’s just not in the .stat file, there are ways to build the Wea from the list of monthly optical data values within the Ladybug Tools SDK layer.

But, if there’s no optical data at all and you need a clear sky, the next best thing is to use the original ASHRAE Clear Sky model, which doesn’t need optical data but it tends to be a little more conservative (overestimating irradiance) than the Tau model. Thankfully, all that you need for this one is the location information so you should be fine for any location on earth:

Thank you @chris,
Unfortunately there is no optical data so the option you suggest will do.
I don’t know why but i kind of vaguely remember that for the Legacy version it worked fine. Right now i can’t find the file with that solution …
Well, there is a solution for the issue, so all good.

@AbrahamYezioro ,

That might be because, to do this type of annual clear sky radiation study in legacy, you had to actually import the stat file and connect the monthly optical data values to a component like what you see here in this Hydra example. So you would have seen no data imported.

From that example, you can see that the study was only able to use ladybug incident solar (without bounces). Now, in [+], you’ll be able to do this type of study with the full feature set of Radiance.
