Zoning adjacent floors with different floor plans

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on whole building energy simulation of a residential project that has several floor plan typologys, and am having a hard time on figuring out how to zone adjacent floors with different plans. The floor plans are pretty complex and I haven’t thought of any viable solutions for producing matching vertical surfaces. Since the objective of the simulation is to analyse temperature levels for the different rooms, study passive cooling strategys and define materials, I really don’t want to simplify the thermal zones. Here is an example of two adjacent floor plans (8th and 9th floor of the building):

Does anybody have any tips?

Thanks,
Vini

PS: I really haven’t started to model anything yet, so I am uploading the floor plans as breps, in case anybody wants to take a closer look.

Did you try to use IntersectMasses? I would try it once and then bake the results. If the floor plans won’t change then you can also do it in Rhino which will be more stable.

@mostapha, I tried using using IntersectMasses this morning, but every time I try it, grasshopper freezes up. I’m gonna try to draw the surfaces on Rhino, and in parallel I am gonna try to model this thin intermediate retangular zone between the two floors:

I don’t have the E+ knowledge to tell if it’s a good aproximation or not, but since it’s pretty easy to model, I think it’s worth the comparision. I’ll post the results once I have them.

Tks,
