How did you create the model for your EnergyPlus simulation? Did you use Legacy plugin? If so, Legacy is really only intended to be used with EnergyPlus 8.9 (with OpenStudio 2.5) as you see here:
If you want to use EnergyPlus 9.6, then you need to use the latest LBT 1.4.0 plugin.
