How to Update/Uninstall Old Ladybug Tools (and Simulation Engines)

Hey @tomsanya ,

Thank you for the kind words re: the LBT 1.9 release.

If you installed Ladybug Tools via the Pollination single-click installer, updating or uninstalling everything is very straightforward. Just running the newly-downloaded installer will update everything related to Ladybug Tools on your system, including all of the engines (replacing older engines used by Ladybug Tools with newer engines). Similarly, uninstalling Ladybug Tools via your operating system’s settings will uninstall everything.

If you installed Ladybug Tools via the Food4Rhino installer, then uninstalling everything is a little more work. Running the new installer.gh file will update all of the Ladybug Tools components and core libraries (replacing the old ones with new ones). But you will have to go to your operating system’s settings or application folder and install OpenStudio and Radiance manually if you don’t want them to be hanging around after you installer newer versions of these engines that will bet picked up by the Ladybug Tools components. Granted, keeping the old versions of the simulation engines around doesn’t really have any detriment except for the extra space it’s taking up on your hard drive. So you should feel free to keep them around if you think there is a chance that you might use them at some point.

I hope that’s clear but let me know if you have any questions.
