Role Description

We are seeking a curious, skilled and motivated junior-to-mid level Energy Analyst for a contract position to join our remote team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in high-performance design for buildings worldwide.

As an Energy Analyst, you will perform advanced energy studies that support environmentally-conscious design decisions. We are looking for someone with expertise in OpenStudio, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Ladybug Tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use Rhino and Grasshopper for parametric design and automation of energy modeling tasks, ensuring efficient workflows.
  • Develop and maintain energy models using Ladybug Tools and OpenStudio for building performance analysis.
  • Perform energy analysis to evaluate building performance, including HVAC, lighting, and thermal systems.
  • Identify opportunities for building performance improvements and propose innovative solutions to meet sustainability goals.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay current with the latest energy modeling trends, simulation tools, and industry best practices.
  • Work independently to ensure timely and effective project delivery, with availability within Eastern Standard Time working hours.
  • Expected workload 10-40 hours a week, depending on project needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in energy modeling and building performance simulation, particularly using OpenStudio.
  • Advanced proficiency in Rhino, Grasshopper and Ladybug Tools, including scripting and automating parametric workflows.
  • Strong understanding of energy efficiency principles and building systems.
  • Knowledge of building energy standards and codes, such as ASHRAE, LEED, or similar.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, interpret simulation results, and translate them into actionable design strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote team environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • In the range of 1 - 5 years of relevant experience in energy analysis and simulation.
  • Experience modeling various building types (residential, commercial, industrial) is a plus.
  • Experience in other type of analyses such as daylighting, thermal comfort and embodied carbon also a plus.
