Accumulation water tank in IronBug

Hi IronBug and LadyBug Community,
@MingboPeng

I was wondering whether it is possible to develop a workflow to have an accumulation water tank, a simple water tank, using IronBug.

There is an object in EnergyPlus named WaterHeater:Mixed which you can develop thermal energy storage as below:

There is a component in IronBug named: IB_WaterHeaterMixed as below. The challenge is that I cannot make some important parameters like fuel type empty

The very simplified version of the desired tank could be as below:

WaterHeater:Mixed,
 A14, \field Use Side Inlet Node Name
 A15, \field Use Side Outlet Node Name
 A16, \field Source Side Inlet Node Name
 A17, \field Source Side Outlet Node Name

The tank has no specific elements and components like a heater, coils, etc. It is just a water bank. Would you kindly let me know how I can simulate this specific feature using IronBug?

For a house, with any HVAC system, the final goal of this tank is to be used as a buffer storage for SHW and space heating.

Thanks very much in advance.

Sincerely,
Behnam

Hi @behnammmohseni,

I have not modeled such system, but based on my understanding, you can set this WaterHeater’s heating capacity to 0 so that you only use its tank for a buffer storage?
