airBoundary set problem_HoneyBee Simulation

Hi guys,

I am doing a office building typical floor simulation. Now is the stage of BC setup.
for me it is getting complex and I need some help… Below is the whole process:

AND till step 2 everything seems fine.

Here you can see there is almost right BUT NO airBourdaries!

So when I went to step3 and changed BC like below:

I first changed the ‘liftHall’ 2 srfs interiorWall to airboundary as below:

FOR me it seems working b/c you could overlapping of interiorWall and airBoundary. So next I changed the interiorWall from corridor side to get 2 overlapping srfs ALL airboundary.

BUT here comes the ERROR:

any ideas?

Best,
Lei

Hi @TrilithStone, it will be really hard to help with this without having access to the model.

I suggest using the Pollination Rhino plugin instead. It has a 14 day free trial and building models like this are much easier. If you can share the model as a HBJSON I should also be able to help with fixing the model.

Hi Mostapha,

Yeah I could love to use Pollination.
And I was thinking as a beginner of HB simulation, build up the model mannually(I mean use GH,) could help me understanding the process and tips better…
Anyhow, can you pls tell me how to share the model as HBJson?
In the meantime, I`ll try Pollination.

Best,
Lei

Hi guys,

I solved it. The key issue is to understand how LB HB works in a program level.

In step 1, the solid already been added srfs as apertures or doors.
AND I thought adding the sub-srfs is a one-time work, BUT actually it is not the way HB works in terms of program.

As I did in step 3, changed BC into airBoundaries, AND I thought before the sub-srfs properties will still be internalized inside HB, but it is not.

So the solution is in step3, I added apertures and doors AGAIN and it works.

Be a reminder: when error comes"assertion exceptions: XXX not match", it means for the adjacent solids, the add sub-srfs not been done in a way of numbers or size.

Thanks again.
The polination seems verymuch simplified the whole GH coding level.
Still on it…@Mostapha

That’s the main point of using the Rhino plugin with Ladybug Tools. You’ll move the whole portion of creating the geometry and QA/QC to Rhino so you can use Ladybug Tools/Grasshopper for the parametric runs and results exploration.
