Development Version of the LBT Grasshopper Plugin Now Uses OpenStudio 3.2

Hello All,

I just wanted to make an announcement that is only for people staying up-to-date with the latest development version of the LBT Plugin using the “LB Versioner” component. So this does not concern anyone using the last stable release of the LBT plugin (version 1.2.0 directly from Food4Rhino).

We just finished upgrading the development version of the LBT plugin to use OpenStudio 3.2 instead of OpenStudio 3.1, which the last stable release uses. We have updated the compatibility matrix accordingly.

The changes to OpenStudio/EnergyPlus are not very large for this release and so the transition should hopefully be pretty smooth. Also, there are some enhancements we should be able to get out of this upgrade in the coming weeks. Notably, OpenStudio added support for ASHRAE 90.1 2016 and 2019 in the openstudio-standards-gem so we will try to get the new program types, construction sets, and HVAC templates for 2016 and 2019 exposed in the Grasshopper plugin for the next stable release of the LBT plugin. Also, @MingboPeng added some better automated checks for OpenStudio’s C# bindings, which means that IronBug compatibility should be a bit better from OpenStudio 3.2 onward.

Still, these changes mean it is harder for people to jump back and forth from the latest development version of the LBT plugin to the last stable release. In case it’s helpful, the last development version that works with OpenStudio 3.1 is LBT 1.2.28. So you can always plug 1.2.28 into the versioner component to get the last LBT version that’s OS 3.1-compatible.
