DOAS + PTHP Setup

Hi everyone,

I am working on a residential energy model in Honeybee using Ironbug to build a custom HVAC system. My goal is to simulate a PTHP (Packaged Terminal Heat Pump) for heating/cooling and a DOAS (Dedicated Outdoor Air System) with ERV for ventilation.

My Setup: I have set up the system using Ironbug components (see attached screenshot).

DOAS: Modeled as an AirLoop with an ERV, supplying outdoor air to the zones.
PTHP: Modeled as Zone Equipment attached to the same thermal zones.

The Problem: When I run the simulation, the results show that the PTHP has a near-zero cooling demand. It seems like the DOAS AirLoop is handling the entire cooling load, leaving nothing for the PTHP to do.

My Questions:

  1. Is there a specific Load Priority setting in Ironbug/OpenStudio to ensure the PTHP handles the thermal load while the DOAS only handles ventilation?
  2. Does the DOAS Supply Air Temperature setpoint effectively override the PTHP if set too low?

Any advice on how to properly decouple these loads in Ironbug would be appreciated!
