Hi everyone,
I am working on a residential energy model in Honeybee using Ironbug to build a custom HVAC system. My goal is to simulate a PTHP (Packaged Terminal Heat Pump) for heating/cooling and a DOAS (Dedicated Outdoor Air System) with ERV for ventilation.
My Setup: I have set up the system using Ironbug components (see attached screenshot).
DOAS: Modeled as an AirLoop with an ERV, supplying outdoor air to the zones.
PTHP: Modeled as Zone Equipment attached to the same thermal zones.
The Problem: When I run the simulation, the results show that the PTHP has a near-zero cooling demand. It seems like the DOAS AirLoop is handling the entire cooling load, leaving nothing for the PTHP to do.
My Questions:
- Is there a specific Load Priority setting in Ironbug/OpenStudio to ensure the PTHP handles the thermal load while the DOAS only handles ventilation?
- Does the DOAS Supply Air Temperature setpoint effectively override the PTHP if set too low?
Any advice on how to properly decouple these loads in Ironbug would be appreciated!
