DSF and CUrtain wall in honeybee

I am currently using Honeybee for the energy simulation of a university research case study involving a transparent double-skin façade (DSF). I have encountered a modeling issue and would greatly appreciate your guidance.

The building consists of a base façade with a curtain wall glazing system and a second outer transparent glass skin, creating an air cavity between the two façades.

The challenge is how to correctly model this second transparent glass layer in Honeybee.

From my understanding:

  • Modeling it as a Shade is not appropriate because the second skin is transparent glass rather than an opaque shading device.

  • Modeling it as a Room/Zone also seems inappropriate, since the cavity is not intended to function as an occupied thermal zone.

Could you please advise on the recommended workflow for representing a transparent double-skin façade in Honeybee?

Specifically, I would like to know:

  1. What is the recommended method for modeling the outer glass skin?

  2. Should the cavity between the two glass layers be modeled as a thermal zone, or is there another recommended approach?

  3. If Honeybee currently does not support this type of façade directly, what would be the best approximation for energy simulation?

This model is being developed for an academic case study as part of my graduate research, so I would like to follow the most technically appropriate workflow.
