Energy Balance Gap and Unexpected Ventilation Losses in Honeybee Simulation

Hi everyone,

I’m working on an early-stage thermal model using Honeybee in Grasshopper, and I’ve run into two issues I can’t fully explain. I’d be grateful if anyone could help clarify them.

1. Energy Balance Discrepancy
Looking at the results from the energy balance, I notice that the sum of the inputs (heating demand + solar gains) does not equal the sum of the losses. There’s always a gap of around 2 to 5 kWh/m².
Where could this discrepancy come from? Is there an internal factor I’m missing ?

Note: the other loads are set to zero (people, lighting, electric, gas, hot water).

2. Ventilation Losses Still Present When Set to Zero
I tried to completely disable ventilation by setting:

  • ventilation-per-floor-area = 0
  • ventilation-per-person = 0
  • ventilation-ach = 0

However, the results still show ventilation heat losses in the output.
Is this expected behavior? Or is there something else I need to configure to truly remove all mechanical and natural ventilation?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! (I can’t provide the files now as a new user)
