EnergyPlus Simulation Error in Ironbug Radiant System Simulation

Hi @MingboPeng,

I’m using Ironbug to conduct a radiant system simulation. Until a few months ago, my simulations ran without any issues. However, now the EnergyPlus simulation is not working properly.

The error code I am seeing is:
“1. Solution exception: ** Fatal ** Errors occurred on processing input file. Preceding condition(s) cause termination.”

This error occurs even when I use the template file (Sys13_RadiantPanel+DOAS). I have tried multiple times but have been unable to identify the cause. I suspect that this issue may be related to a recent update in the Ironbug version. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I’m sorry, but I can’t attach the Ironbug file because I’m a new user on this forum.

Ironbug version: v1.15.0

Hi @HHiru

Can you kindly perform the below procedure and check whether it is working?

On grasshopper, you need to press CRTL + A to select all things on the canvas, then right-click and select Recompute, then again CRTL + A and right-click and select Enable.

Then you need to run the simulation.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I followed the procedure you provided.
Unfortunately, the issue remains unresolved, and the same error persists:

“1. Solution exception: ** Fatal ** Errors occurred on processing input file. Preceding condition(s) cause termination.”

I suspect that the issue might be related to one or more components used in the Sys13_RadiantPanel+DOAS template not being up-to-date.
If you have any insights on this or further recommendations for troubleshooting, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

Thank you again for your assistance!

Thank you for your continued support. I have attached the .gh file for your reference.
The configuration of the HVAC system follows the Sys13_RadiantPanel+DOAS template.

Since the error occurs even with this simplified setup, I suspect the issue might be related to one or more components in the template. If you could review the file and provide further insights, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for your assistance!

@HHiru Hi I was able to get your file to run, you were missing one thing and had a bad input on another.
Missing:: radiant source construction

The roofs selection of adiabatic overrules the construction so once that is set false, your model should run

hopefully that helps,
best

I do not know maybe my system has problem or maybe it’s an IronBug’s bug.

When I connect and disconnect a wire, the program will clash and close.

Thank you for your detailed feedback and guidance. Following your steps, I incorporated the Internal Source into the material for the roof and avoided setting the roof to adiabatic. This allowed me to successfully run the simulation for a single-story building model. I sincerely appreciate your assistance in identifying these points!
I also recognize that these issues were due to my own initial mistakes, and I truly appreciate your patience in helping me resolve them.

I sincerely apologize for asking additional questions, but I would greatly appreciate your guidance regarding a more complex scenario.
As shown in the attached image, I am working on a three-story building model. My goal is to incorporate the Internal Source only into the ceiling surface of the second (middle) story, while setting other stories to use non-radiant HVAC systems (such as IdealLoads). However, I am currently facing difficulties in properly adding the Internal Source to the ceiling surface of the middle story.
Since it appears that the Internal Source must be added to the roof surface, I am unsure how to configure it specifically for the middle story’s ceiling. Could you kindly provide advice or recommendations on how to set this up correctly?
Thank you again for your time and expertise!

Thank you for taking the time to investigate this issue and for sharing your experience. I appreciate your efforts to help identify the problem.
I tested the same actions on my computer (connecting and disconnecting a wire), but fortunately, I did not encounter any crashes or errors.
Thank you again for your support!

I apologize for following up on this question again,
but I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide any hints or advice to help resolve this issue.
