EnergyPlus Simulation Issues – Weather File, Ground Temperature, and Shadowing Errors

Hi everyone,

I’m running an EnergyPlus simulation, but I’m encountering multiple warnings and errors. Here are the key issues:

  1. Weather file mismatch: The weather file location does not match the IDF location (latitude, longitude, elevation, time zone). How can I ensure the correct weather file is used?
  2. Ground temperature missing: The simulation reports that no ground temperatures were input, and it defaults to 18°C. What is the best way to specify accurate ground temperatures?
  3. Unused constructions: 22 constructions are defined but not assigned to any surfaces. Should I remove them, or is there a way to properly assign them?
  4. Non-convex surfaces: Two surfaces casting and receiving shadows are non-convex, potentially leading to inaccurate shading calculations. How can I fix this issue?
  5. Surfaces below ground: Several surfaces have vertices below ground level, affecting solar reflection calculations. What is the best way to correct this?
  6. Plant sizing issue: The simulation reports that there is no Sizing:Plant object, which prevents proper plant system sizing. How can I add this correctly?
  7. Missing output variables: Some requested report variables are not generated. How can I ensure they are included in the results?
  8. Energy cost mismatch: Incorrect resource references appear in Utility:Tariff, causing energy cost calculations to fail. How should I define these properly?

I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve these issues. Thanks in advance!
