EPW to WEA File coordinates behaviour

Hello,

i have a quick question about the EPW to WEA conversion using ladybug. I noticed that the longitude changes the sign when converting the EPW file to the WEA file.

Is there a reason for that, as i know normally a negative longitude refers to west and positive to east. Just want to make sure that the gendaymtx function creates the correct results with the given coordinates.

Greetings,
Yannick

Hi @Yannick,

The negative longitude for east is correct. See this similar question from the Radiance forum: Questions about epw2wea.

Hi @mikkel

thanks a lot for the quick answer

Do you know how the timezone in the wea-file is interpreted, as i noticed it get’s multiplied by -15 when converting from EPW to WEA.

Greetings,
Yannick

Hi @Yannick,

That is the format of the time zone in the Wea. It is basically multiplied by ±15 depending on east/west. E.g. Los Angeles which is time zone -8 in the EPW becomes 120 in the Wea (-8*-15).
