Yea, that’s a really long time period over which you are updating. UnmetHours is the right place to have the discussion since this is in the domain of the “IDF Updater” maintainers rather than the expertise on this forum.
But, just knowing how many changes the E+ developers make to the IDF schema, I wouldn’t really expect an IDF file that old to be easily upgrade-able. At least not without loosing many IDF objects in the process.
In the future, I would recommend storing your EnergyPlus models in OSM format rather than IDF. NREL makes far fewer changes to the OSM schema than the E+ developers make to the IDF schema. Add in the fact that E+ is going to switch natively to EPJSON over IDF at some point and it’s clear that OSM is the more reliable choice. Also, in my experience, the update routines for OSM have been much more reliable than the IDF updater but, then again, OpenStudio was just a young software project back in 2012. So it’s hard to compare across such a long time period.
Hi, can you share the .idf file? I just tried upgrading from 8.5 to 24.1 (going from 9.6) and had no problem, probably depends on the classes.
Bye bye
See you soon
