Having trouble with creating windows

Attached is a GH file with the surfaces for a single zone internalized. I have been struggling to get windows to go on to this model and I do not know what I am doing wrong.

  1. The CLEAR STORY windows are only being created on 2 to the 3 surfaces assigned.
  2. The FRONT WINDOW is not showing windows at all.
  3. The the SIDE WINDOWS are only half there.

mtview test.gh (591.8 KB)

This is just one parts of a larger building and I am having similar problems with those zones as well.

Also, I tried to use separate window panels with little success so I think the issue is subtle.

Thanks for your help.

Didn’t check your file, but are you using Rhino 6? If so look at this.

Just open the file in R5, and seems to be that there the windows are fine.

WOW! All these struggles and it was due to using version 6??!! Yikes. Is this something that can be fixed or do I need to run both R5 and R6?

I’ve already opened an issue here.
Hopefully this will be fixed soon. In the meantime, no option but run both versions.

10-4 I just re-loaded R5 and it worked beautifully. I would not have guessed that solution… good job! I was pulling my hair out previously. Thank you so much for the solution.

Ken

We should fix this as soon as possible! Sorry for the inconvenience.

This issue has been addressed here:

It resulted from what seems like a bug in Rhino 6 that hopefully McNeil fixes soon. In the meantime, the Honeybee components work without issue in Rhino 6 if you sync with the github.

Great @chris.
Thanks,

Hi @chris,

For now I am going to close out this issue but I’ll try to find the relavant place to post this on McNeil’s forums

I don’t recall seeing this on the Rhino discourse. I can help making a YT item but then I’ll need to understand exactly what it takes for this bug to manifest itself.
cheers,
wim

@wim,
Since i’m the one that opened the issue in the LB github, you can find there an Example showing the issue.
When you change the slider for the window size there are some cases where the window is ommited. This is a condition of the HB_HB component, where calculating the window size it checks if it’s size is tiny. If so, the window is omitted. The issue here is that the size area is negative which is the error @chris is referring to. For the whole discussion in the github see it here.
Hope this explanation is helping.

We’ve got this logged as YT item RH-46530.

For what it’s worth, all area calculations in native Grasshoppers components have already been updated to use the absolute value. This weeks’ Service Release Candidates for RH6 will have that covered.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I am looking forward to using R 6 with Honeybee.
