New to LadyBug and HoneyBee. The model is previewing correctly in Rhino but when I try to output the model to “ModelToOSM” I get Solution Exception Error. Thanks for any insight.
Hi.
There is not enough info to help.
But one possible cause is the wrong OSM version, the solution then to use the pollination cloud install file, that includes all the correct dependencies.
I have tried to upload my rhino and gh files so that it will be easier to troubleshoot but I am not allowed to because I am a new user.
Hi.
Dont know whats going on, really but….
Try running the pollination Cloud installer, to ensure that everything is updated.
Then run the versioner component, to update components to a newer version.
Hi All,
I am piggybacking onto this thread as I am having the same issue as Greg.
I am running Rhino on mac, and have fully updated everything to their latest versions. (See screenshot). However I am still getting this translation issue, is there anything else anyone might be aware of that could casue this issue?
As far as I can tell Pollinator is not available on mac.
Hi @PHExplorer , @gregb
I just ran the ‘LB Versioner’ to update to v1.8.115, and installed OpenStudio 3.9 (as per the compatibility Matrix), and I can confirm that this is now causing a Failed to translate Model to OpenStudio
error on MacOS.
Environment:
- Apple M1 Max (2021)
- MacOS Sequoia 15.5
- Rhino v 8 (8.21.25175.17002, 2025-06-24)
- LBT Version 1.8.115
- OpenStudio v3.9
@chris , do you have a suggestion for how to track down where the error is occuring?
thanks!

Hi @edpmay
Thank you for testing this yourself and confirming that this isnt a user modelling error. I look forward to hearing from Chris regarding next steps.
Hi @chris,
Unfortunately this still seems to raise the same error with the new LBT v1.9:
Any suggestions for how to track down the error?
thanks!

Hey @edpmay ,
Is this and ARM chip Mac? And, if so, did you install Rosetta2?
I know that I added a new warning about this in the installer.gh file but you might have missed it if you updated via the Versioner.
FYI I will try to test on my wife’s old Mac in a couple of hours.
Gosh, wat a dumb bug this was. I’m pushing a fix now and I’ll update the installer on Food4Rhino.
Ok, the fix was merged here:
… and I just updated the LBT 1.9 installer.gh on Food4Rhino with the fixed component.
So all that you have to do is re-download the LBT 1.9 installer and run it (or use the LB Versioner component). Then you will have version 1.9.1 of the “Model To OSM” component that has the fix:
I really should have checked this topic 3 days ago as I was finalizing everything for the release.
Hi Chris, I have 2 students who updated today to version 1.9.2 and had the same issue. We manually installed Rosetta 2 successfully and the issue persisted. We then updated to v1.9.5 with the versioner to no avail. They are both running M2 chips on Macbooks
Hey @Nicholaskerr ,
There were a couple of more improvements that I made after releasing “Model to OSM” version 1.9.2, which are now included in the LBT 1.9 Food4Rhino installer.
The latest version of the “Model to OSM” component is version 1.9.4:
Can you make sure that the students are using that version of the component and see if it solves the problem?
In particular, version 1.9.4 of the component will give a clear error message when the geometry is supposed to be in Meters but the Rhino document is set to Millimeters (probably the most common error that I find people getting with the Model To OSM component).
Hi Chriss,
I’ve encountered a similar issue while running an analysis with my model. Since I wasn’t sure whether my own model was error-free, I tested it using the sample file “single_family_energy_model.gh” from your GitHub repository. The same error still occurs.
I didn’t make any changes to the “single_family_energy_model.gh” file, except for adding the LB SyncGrasshopperFile component to update the components to the latest version.
