Hello community,
It’s my first time using Honeybee Energy. I am moving from Climate Studio to this great open-source tool. But I’m encountering some limitations on its defaults in order to build up the model.
I would like to build my energy model without using ASHRAE library, construction sets, programs, and schedules. More specifically, using the European standards and some other wall assemblies. Is there any collection / library out there of construction sets, programs, schedules, etc that I can use for faster modelling?
You’ll have to be more specific about what standard you want to make defaults for. As I understand it, a lot of Europe uses the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and you’ll see that the templates you have labeled as “ASHRAE” also correspond to versions of the IECC:
If you have a more localized and less international standard in mind, feel free to post it and maybe someone on the forum has worked on making constructions and objects for that standard.
Thanks for correcting my misunderstanding, @savage.
It seems that the International Energy Conservation Code is International in the same way that the baseball World Series is for the whole world.
Out of curiosity, what is the particular standard that you want to use with Ladybug Tools? If this standard has something like the US Dept. of Energy Commercial Reference Building Models to give people a sample of how to apply the energy code, then we can probably parse these models into a format like the honeybee_energy_standards package so that they can be loaded into the Ladybug Tools library.

I assume this question was for frnicolas77, but I can add my thoughts. If the locations have energy codes/standards, I expect adding China, India, and the European Union would be a good start, covering almost 50% of the world population. I wonder if this would be more of a crowd-sourcing exercise, relying on local designers to parse the local codes – how difficult is it for someone to create a honeybee_energy_standards-like package?
