How to change materials and add windows to the shade component in HoneyBee?

Hi everyone,

I’m conducting research using HoneyBee and I have a couple of questions:

  1. Is it possible to change the material of the shade component? If so, could you explain how I can modify the material?
  2. Is it possible to add windows to the shade component? If yes, I would appreciate guidance on how to implement this.

The goal of my research is to observe how the heating and cooling loads change due to the influence of surrounding buildings. Any advice or suggestions on how to set this up would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Here is where you would put a construction to change the buildup of shade components:

Shade more so belongs to windows than the other way around, you can draw your windows and then apply shade.
Adding windows via by ratio:

Adding drawn geometry as a window:

I have an additional question.
How can I check what materials I can apply in shade? How can I check the material items?

You would use HB Shade Construction, “Note that Shade objects in EnergyPlus
do not have layers and are only defined by their exterior reflectance.”
