How to connect two paths from data to data widget

Hi all. This is a pretty simple question, I assume. In dividing these building solids into different stories, how do I connect two data paths into one data widget, shown? Everytime I try to do this the opposing data path disconnects. The example comes from_building_solids.gh in the DF samples.

Have you tried holding Shift while making the connection?

Though I suppose the correct way to do that would be to use native GHs " Merge" component
