How to Integrate 'Locate My State Now' Data with Ladybug Tools for Accurate Environmental Analysis?

I’ve been using Ladybug Tools to simulate and analyze various environmental factors, such as solar radiation and thermal comfort. Recently, I came across the “Locate my state now” tool, which provides real-time location data and accurate state boundaries based on the user’s current position. This tool seems like it could be incredibly useful when trying to ensure that the environmental analysis I conduct is as geographically precise as possible, particularly when dealing with state-specific climate data or regulations.

However, I’m not entirely sure how to go about integrating the location data from “Locate My State Now” into Ladybug Tools. For instance, if I want to analyze the solar radiation specific to a particular state, how can I ensure that the location data from “Locate My State Now” is accurately reflected in my Ladybug Tools simulations? Is there a way to import the coordinates or boundary data directly into Ladybug Tools, or would I need to manually adjust settings based on the location provided by the tool?

Moreover, when running simulations that are highly dependent on geographic factors, such as daylight analysis or energy consumption models, how can I ensure that the precision of the “Locate My State Now” tool is effectively utilized? Does anyone have experience with combining location-specific data from external tools like this with Ladybug Tools, and if so, what’s the best method to ensure that the results are reliable and geographically accurate?

I’m particularly interested in understanding whether there are any existing workflows or plugins within the Ladybug Tools ecosystem that support the integration of external location data, or if anyone has suggestions on how to approach this challenge using available resources. Any advice on how to manage this kind of data, and potential pitfalls to avoid when integrating location data into environmental simulations, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @IrmaErna,

Does this website provide measured hourly solar radiation? The easiest way to integrate it with Ladybug Tools is to create a WEA file from the measured data and use that for your studies.
