Ideal Loads Air System - How to decompose the sensible and latent portions of Cooling and Heating

Hi,
I’m trying to decompose the sensible and latent portions of the Cooling/Heating energy loads for Ideal Systems.
The Total loads for Cooling corresponds to the output variable “Zone Ideal Loads Supply Air Total Cooling Energy”. BTW, i don’t know why the variable is not “Zone Ideal Loads Zone Total Cooling Energy” instead.
I was expecting that the latent and sensible will correspond, like this:
“Zone Ideal Loads Supply Air Sensible Cooling Rate” and “Zone Ideal Loads Supply Air Latent Cooling Rate”. but they don’t.

I’ll be glad to get some light here.

Thanks,

Hi, I am looking for similar thing.
Wondering if you found solution? I am interested in getting to know the share between latent/sensible cooling

Unfortunately, not yet.

The supply system is used because mechanical ventilation isn’t associated with zones since it’s conditioned in the HVAC system. So to account for mechanical ventilation the supply system energy is used. Furthermore, (at least in HB Legacy), there isn’t a report variable that is associated with the mechanical ventilation energy value, so this is calculated by subtracting the zone energy from the supply energy.

As for the sensible/latent split not adding up to the total cooling energy, are you sure you are adding up the correct units? The “Zone Ideal Loads Supply Air Sensible Cooling Rate” and *“Zone Ideal Loads Supply Air Latent Cooling Rate” outputs are rates in W, and “Zone Ideal Loads Supply Air Total Cooling Energy” output is in Wh or Joules. This could just be a simple unit conversion error.

If not, it’s an interesting problem. Can you share what numbers you are getting specifically?
