Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on a project where I want to evaluate the net solar benefit of different facade geometries (changing wwr, shading devices, etc.) in the context of future climate scenarios (using an epw weather file for 2080).
I’m using the Benefit Sky Matrix component, but I’m having trouble interpreting the output and defining a clear performance metric. My goal is to get a single, comparative value for each facade configuration that helps me understand how much beneficial vs. harmful solar radiation is being absorbed by window surfaces.
As I can’t find resources on this topic I would be very grateful if someone could offer advice on these questions:
-
I noticed that the example file shows the colored mesh but does not explain how to extract the resulting data to compare different designs. How should I process the numerical output from the radiation analysis to use it as a performance indicator? Which output represents the “net solar benefit”, I think that’s the value I’m looking for.
-
And is the Benefit Sky Matrix the most suitable tool for this kind of facade evaluation, or should I be looking into a different method/component (eg the Glare Shade Benefit example)?
If anyone has a interpretation method for turning these radiation values into meaningful facade performance metrics, I’d really appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance!
