MASS Design Group - Technology Specialist - Boston/Kigali

MASS is seeking a Technology Specialist to work globally across MASS offices with local design teams and IT personnel to use technology to maximize the impact of projects. They will set comprehensive assessments and agendas for digital standards of practice, content creation, staff software training, and creative technological advancement.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively improve quality and efficiency in project design and delivery processes
  • Act as office-wide CAD/BIM manager and provide direct support to project teams to enhance project workflow and efficiency
  • Provide proactive support to project teams including, but not limited to, BIM implementation planning, team kick-off, project setup, and technology configuration
  • Conduct technology-based quality control reviews
  • Customize, develop and maintain firm-wide design technology standards across offices
  • Provide onboarding and training to all staff in CAD/BIM office standards, procedures, and software requirements
  • Address technical issues alongside Boston Help Desk (BHD) and internal IT specialists, software vendors, in-kind donors, and other resources
  • Devote time to research new and upcoming technologies
  • May contribute to the production of project deliverables
  • Contribute to impact and energy assessments through technological inquiries

Required Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge in building information modeling programs and applicable techniques
  • Expertise in Revit and AutoCAD required
  • Proficiency in 3D Modeling and analysis software such as Rhino
  • Proficiency in MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel required
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Advanced knowledge in using computational tools such as Grasshopper, Dynamo or others preferred
  • Knowledge of energy benchmarking tools such as Diva and Ladybug preferred
  • Ability to effectively mentor and train project staff
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated curiosity and innovation in digital tool application and advancement in the design and construction industry

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, information technology or a related discipline required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in BIM/3D modeling in an office setting
  • Prior experience with BIM management and/or support preferred

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports bi-weekly / monthly to Standards Council and Operations Team
  • Coordinates weekly with (1) Project Manager in each office
  • Holds weekly skills training / troubleshooting session open for all staff
