Modeling Energy Impact Indoor Biofiltration

Hello,

I’m a researcher developing plant systems that generate fresh air from inside, thus allowing recirculation of indoor air and energy savings by reducing the need to heat/cool incoming outdoor air. I have done some back of the envelope calculations, but want to be able to model the annual energy density impact of indoor fresh air generation. I have a lot of TRNSYS Type 56 experience but little honeybee experience. I have two questions:

  1. What’s a simple way to model the EUI reduction due to indoor fresh air generation assuming the system works perfectly 100% of the time (i.e., how would I easily set outdoor air ventilation to zero, or recirculation of makeup air to 100%)

  2. How do I model this system more dynamically (i.e., accounting for the mets of occupants based on a schedule, reduced photosynthetic efficiency at night, electrical draw of the plant system when running, etc.)

Any suggestions about how to do this in Honeybee would be greatly appreciated!!!
