Overlapping surfaces and reflectance in daylight simulation

Hello !

I have a question regarding overlapping surfaces in a daylight simulation conducted using Honeybee and Radiance.

By mistake, I modeled the floor with two overlapping surfaces:

  • A concrete slab with a reflectance of 0.3
  • A PVC floor finish with a reflectance of 0.5
(as seen in the attached image)

I’m trying to understand which reflectance value was actually taken into account during the simulation. I opened the .rad file and found:

  • The PVC floor surfaces listed around line 210756
  • The concrete slab surfaces around line 746 751

Does the order in which these surfaces appear in the .rad file indicate which one was used by Radiance? Or is there another way to verify which surface was considered in the final simulation ?

PS: I’ve already re-run the simulation after correcting the model (removing the overlapping surfaces), but I’d really appreciate any guidance on how to handle or check this in the future.

Thank you !
