I am looking for definite workflow to explore placement of PV panles, sizing and tilt. I constantly find information about the lagacy “Renewables” component, but I am sure there must be away to do it with the current version of LB, HB 1.6.
My best effort is to calculate the Annual Irradiance but from what I summise changing the tilt of the HB face has no effect to it.
Can someone show me a quick example where a simple face outputs different solar gains depending on the tilt.
I recommend you work your way through the tutorials - this is a good start for what you’re interested in (watching the whole series will give a great grounding).
If you really want hourly data from radiance the daylighting grid based tutorials work on very similar principles.
I often use ladybug and honeybee to get the annual radiation to estimate PV yield, applying reasonable losses and panel efficiency - I hope there’s nothing fundamentally wrong with that approach! Always worth comparing with PVWatts or PVGIS
