Rhino/Grasshopper crash when dropping honeybee on the canvas

Hi,

I have a problem with Grasshopper. Every time i drop a honeybee component onto the canvas it shuts down. It is not with every componend and ladybug works fine. I dont know where it comes from.
I already reinstalled everything (Rhino, radiance, E+, openstudio, ladybug and honeybee) 2 times and it still doesn’t work.
Can someone please help me? I need the programm for a schoolproject and without it i can’t finish it.

thank you in advance,
Martijn

Hi Martijn - you should probably start by mentioning the exact Rhino, Grasshopper, and HB versions you are using.
-wim

Thanks for a quick reply.

I am using:
Rhino 6
Honeybee: 0.0.64

E+: 9.2.0
OpenStudio: 2.9.1
Radiance: 5.2

I can’t find the version of Grasshopper. It automaticly installed with Rhino 6

Have you happened to update Windows recently. @tobiaspedersentsp reported a similar issues but we couldn’t recreate it locally.

We have had a small Windows update recently, can that be the problem?
Do you have a solution for that, of will that solution be in the next Honeybee update?

Hoi Martijn - It’s not uncommon that Windows updates cause problems, most often with video drivers. It’s not so often that I hear of problems with GH components caused by Windows updates though. Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and paste the result here.

It’s not clear from you description if this all worked fine before the update.

Also, you write that it doesn’t happen with all components. Can you reliably reproduce the issue with a specific component?

When Rhino crashes, does a crash reporter pop up allowing you to send information to McNeel?

Hoi Wim, the result of the SystemInfo is:

There are a few components that reliably don’t work. and i can’t find any crash reports/files. I don’t get any pop ups.

Before the update it worked all fine, without problems.

Thanks in advance,
Martijn

Thanks, Martijn!
There’s nothing out of the ordinary in the SystemInfo.
And since things worked fine before the Windows update, I would try to uninstall the GPU drivers and install those from scratch.

Thank you all for the help.
The problem is that i am doing this on a computer from my internship company so the uninstall part is not posible. Ill use my own private laptop so i can keep working.

Tanks for the affort and helping me.

@martijn, let us know if they ended up finding the reason behind this issue.

We are having the same problem and seems like it happened after a Rhino update?
Rhino/Grasshopper will crash any time we use the Honeybee_Honeybee component, Honeybee_IES luminaire component, and some others.

I will Post two separate machines:

Hi - it would be easy to check if that was the cause of the problem. Which SR were you running before updating? Are you getting the crash reporter and are you sending those in if so?

Other than that, make sure all Windows updates are installed and then update (or better, reinstall) your GPU drivers. If that continues to crash Rhino, try to disable all plug-ins that do not ship with Rhino.

After working with our IT department it turned out to be a conflict with our new firewall… We figured out a solution, thank you for your responses!
