Subdivide constructions below and above ground

Hi guys

I’m working on a script for early-stage LCA calculations.

The goal is to be able to take simple volume study model > use Ladybug Tools to create rooms (thereby auto-defining if a surface is a wall or a roof, etc.) > save the sub-divided geometry on a separat layer in rhino > export data to the Real-Time LCA webapp using Speckle and make the CO2 calculations there.

On this topic, I figured out how to simplify the geometry, when the surfaces weren’t coplanar, like the example below: Simplify polysurfaces - Rhino - McNeel Forum

So far so good :ok_hand: Now my next step is to subdivide basement from the rest of the building, as basement construction usually are a lot different than the rest of the building.

The HB Visualize by BC component can show me, what part of the geometry has the Ground boundary condition, but as the output is mesh instead hb_objs, I can’t add the HB Visualize by Type after HB Visualize by BC.

Is there another way to do this?

Hi @MarkLabrosse ,

If you are trying to get the Honeybee-Faces so you can edit them, try using the “Organize” components (as opposed to the “Visualize” components).

The “Organize” components output the actual HB-objects, as opposed to Mesh objects.

I was so close, yet so far away  Thanks Ed, that’s just what I was looking for!
