Surface temprature for outdoor UTCI, LB or HB? optimzing a courtyard geometry

Seeking the generous advice from LB community,

I have built a setup to measure the outdoor thermal comfort in a courtyard house. The geometry parameters (courtyard dimensions, windows proportions) will eventually be fed into an optimization component to maximize both indoor and outdoor thermal comfort.

I am thinking of dividing the workflow into two parts, and this thread is addressing few issues with regard the outdoor. The setup includes:

  1. The geometry pipeline
  2. The Honeybee model (construction setup) and the (honeybee model with apertures assigned to specific face with ratios) and the ( energy calculation).
  3. The Eddy 3D (not connected yet but upon computation result will be used for air/wind speed/ velocity in the UTCI component).
  4. The UTCI component, where I am facing a couple of issues:
  • The surface temperature: should I be using the radiance component that calculates the temperatures for the courtyard faces (walls+ floor) or should the temperatures come from the OSM calculation?

  • In case the face/ surface temperatures are to come from the OSM, I am trying to list the courtyard faces only from the SQL results, but not sure why the number of faces is different in the results from the HB model? is that a valid approach to feed only the courtyard surface temperatures and should they be averaged in this case (annually per surface?)

@chris hey Chris, sorry for tagging you. I was wondering what do you recommend for better surface temperature representation used for UTCI outdoor thermal comfort. The LB Incident Radiation or the HB OSM simulation Read Face results? is there a way to view the surface numbering in the model as it was used in the surface temp output?

I revised the setup with regard to how I am using the (HB Apertures by Guiding Surface) and validated the HB model.

Nevertheless, I am still facing the issue of having different count of faces between the HB object when deconstructed and the number of faces in (HB Read Face Result). My plan is to use the courtyard only walls as an input to the UTCI (Srf Temp)
