Unable to run an EPW simulation with a local OneBuilding EPW

Hi! I’m having a similar issue here I think: When I’m using links from climate.onebuilding.org with weather data, simulation runs, but when I’m using an EPW that is working for my colleague (so the EPW should be alright), I get the same error on my 2 computers (I have recently installed Grasshopper with Pollination on one of them) and I’m getting this error: 1. Solution exception:No file was found at C:\Users\48882\simulation\MAIN_MODEL\openstudio\out.osw

I couldn’t attach the epw but it’s here: Unique Download Link | WeTransfer
Also I’ve tried downloading EPW from POWER | DAV and when I try to connect them I get similar error: 1. Solution exception:Failed to run OpenStudio CLI:
Do you know where the problem could be? I’m dealing with this from a while, I’ve tried solutions from the forums that I’ve found, but I didn’t succeed and I will be very grateful for advice.

Hi.

Try removing Norwegian characters from your file name.

Thank you for your advice, I’ve tried it and unfortunately I still get the same error.

Hi

Reading your message again, I now wonder if this happens always when you run locally saved files?

Could you try using the file path component to direct to the file, instead of a panel?

Regards,

Yes, from what I’ve noticed, all the locally saved files don’t work. I’ve tried connecting by the component path, but it doesn’t change anything still ://

You can try sharing your model, with geometry internalized, and your epw file.

I can try to have a look.

But please simplify as much as possible before sharing.

It’s a quite complex model, so I’ve tried this EPW on some basic boxes as well- still same error, so I’m only sharing the epw and ddy, as I think the GH model itself doesn’t have any impact on it, so if you could try connecting it to any of your models to give it a try, I will be very grateful.

Thanks for asking the right questions, @LittleBuddha .

I just did a test on my machine with the latest development version of the “Model To OSM” component (version 1.8.3) and I was not able to recreate it:

I would suggest testing with the latest development version after running the LB Versioner, @MGawel .

If that does not solve it, then I would ask what version of Windows you are running and what your default encodings are by running something like this in Powershell.

These are mine:

So mine are “Western European (Windows),” which seems able to handle the Norwegian characters but, if yours is different, than maybe your machine might struggle with them.

I have uploaded my versions with LB Versioner and error maintained, but than I’ve tried moving my epw from external disk, where I keep all my project files, to my PC (I’ve tried it before and it didn’t work), but than with the newest version it did! So I think combination of those 2 made it work. Thank you for letting me know about the LB Versioner, I didn’t know I could update so easily without reinstalling everything.
