What does it mean when I have this error message?

I’m trying to run some Energyplus simulations, I get two error messages:

  1. No .eio file was found adjacent to the .csv _resultFileAddress.Results cannot be read back into grasshopper without this file.

2-2. No surface information was found in the imported .eio file adjacent to the .csv _resultFileAddress.Data cannot be normalized by surface area and the data tree outputs for surface data will not be grafted by zone.

It’s usually a result of failure of energy simulation in the first point. Are you sure the simulation is running fine?

Mustapha, thanks for replying to my question. The simulation fails, I’m not sure why, as you can see from he picture I think I have the right setup.

After I updated my HB using the update Honeybee components the simulation fails, it used to run fine right before the update. I noticed some empty outputs coming out the HB flying component, is there something wrong with my installation? I really need to figure out what’s happening with this as I have a deadline to finish this work for a research paper I’m working on.

Thanks in advance

That shouldn’t make any issues. Can you upload your file so we can take a look? I can check it later today. -Mostapha

Here are the files, I really appreciate it.

Final.3dm (2.38 MB)

and here is the GH file

Final_r.gh (1.49 MB)

Update: The simulations ran, but I still have an error. I have updated both Rhino and Grasshopper files and attached them to this message.

Final_r.gh (1.49 MB)

Another Update: I just got everything to work. All I had to do is drag all the objects from scratch and I was able to get the file to work even though the file components and structure remained the same.

Thank you Mostapha for your help.

Rania

Hi Rania,

From the discussions that you have posted in the last couple of days, it sounds like you underwent an update from the latest stable release to the version of the github. Generally speaking, you should make sure that all of the components on your canvass are of the same version to ensure that everything runs smoothly. If you use the updateThisFile_ option on the “Update Honyebee” or “Update Ladybug” components, you can update your whole GH file to the same version at once but be warned that it does not work for all components. In the case that we have changed the names of the inputs/outputs or added inputs/outputs, you will have to replace the component manually (dragging them onto the canvass as it sounds like you did here). Hopefully, this will save you some time in the future.

Hi Mostapha,

I get the same error…I’ve seen all the discussion replies; I updated the file components as Rania did too; I wrote a new the algorithm so to avoid Rania problems(as suggested from Chris) but still I have the same error: “1. No surface information was found in the imported .eio file adjacent to the .csv _resultFileAddress.Data cannot be normalized by surface area and the data tree outputs for surface data will not be grafted by zone”. It’s a long time that I’m trying to figure out what’s the problem…could you please have a look to the file?THANK YOU SO MUCH

Ernesto,

There were supposed to be problems with the file you attached?

Just a couple of issues that i fixed it works fine for me. See attached.
