How to modify individual EP materials and apply them correctly

Hi Bugs and Bees

Can any of you guide me to modify individual surface properties by selecting and applying different EP-materials on selected surfaces?

In the example I only divide the surfaces into Roof/Wall/Floor-categories but these could very well be sub-catagorized into individual surfaces with unique EP-materials. Or can they?

Mass2Zone requires Breps, so how do I supply this module with HB-surfaces if I can’t perform Join (Brep) or Deconstruct (Brep) on HB-geometry without loosing the HB-sticky data?

Best Regards

Kristoffer

Hi Kristoffer,

  1. If you like to create them surface by surface then you are on the right track. You can use Honeybee_createHBZones to create a thermalZone out of this surfaces with the current data.

  1. You can use Mass2Zone component and then change the materials for each type (e.g. walls, windows, etc).

I hope it helps,

Mostapha

Hi Kristoffer,

I just put up a video tutorial series this weekend that shows exactly how to accomplish what you want to do. I know that this is perhaps a long answer to your question but this should lay out everything that you might be interested in. There is a solid 40 minutes of tutorial showing how to set up Honeybee Zones from individual surfaces:

Also, there is another hour showing how to make custom construction + materials and assign them:

Hey Mustapha and Chris

It makes sense now. I must say it is a pleasure working with your plugin. And Chris your videos are very good, keep it up.

Best regards

Thank you, Sir!
